On Tuesday, March 29, 2016, The Recovery Topic is Step 11 Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
Our sobriety depends on the maintenance of our spiritual condition. The powerlessness over our addictions that nearly destroyed us will return if we do not work on maintaining our contact with a Higher Power. In Step 11, we carry that goal further: we seek to improve the conscious contact with God that we have established in the previous Steps.
Prayer and meditation are our principal means of conscious contact with God. There is a direct linkage among self-examination, meditation, and prayer. We have found that a life of self reflection, Step 10, along with prayer and meditation, Step 11, can give us peace of mind which can stand firm in the face of difficult circumstances. Alcohol is no longer necessary, even in the most difficult of circumstances.
Let's talk about this solution. Tap Speakpipe (especially if you are outside the Unites States) or call 1-734-288-7510 and answer the following question(s):
What is the difference between prayer and meditation to you? What can you do to add more prayer and meditation to you daily life? How do you meditate? How do you pray? How do you improve your conscious contact with God?
